Istria

Many wonderful tracks exist in Istria today providing wonderful hiking and cycling routes

From the Adriatic coast, a lush, green landscape of rolling hills slowly gives way to a more mountainous east where the high, rugged peaks of the Ucka Mountains drop steeply down into the glistening waters of the Bay of Kvarner. This is a land of secluded valleys and fertile plains dotted with hill-top towns and a spectacular jagged coastline of lagoons and islands, quiet coves and long sandy beaches.

Many wonderful tracks exist in Istria today providing wonderful hiking and cycling routes. One of them used to be a 123 km narrow gauge railway connecting Trieste and Porec stopping at more than 30 stations, bringing life to Istrian towns and villages including: Kopar, Piran, Buje, Groznjan, Zavrsje, Livade, Motovun and Vizinada.

This is the perfect location for many enjoyable walks or bicycle rides.
